Chocolate Chai

Chocolate chai is where comforting spices meet indulgent cocoa. This recipe blends the warming notes of traditional chai with the richness of chocolate, creating a drink that feels both familiar and luxurious. It’s ideal for evenings, dessert moments, or whenever you want chai to feel a little special.

Ingredients (2 mugs):

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 tsp black tea leaves

  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 cardamom pods

  • 1 small cinnamon stick

  • 1–2 tsp sugar or sweetener (to taste)

  • Optional: small pinch of nutmeg

Method:

  1. Simmer spices: Add water, cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a saucepan. Simmer 4–5 minutes.

  2. Add tea: Add black tea and simmer 1–2 minutes.

  3. Whisk cocoa: In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder with a few tablespoons of hot chai liquid to remove lumps.

  4. Add milk & cocoa: Pour milk and cocoa mixture into the pot. Stir well.

  5. Sweeten & simmer: Add sugar and simmer gently 1–2 minutes.

  6. Strain & serve: Strain and serve hot.
