Kashmiri Kahwa

Kashmiri Kahwa

Kashmiri Kahwa is a refined, elegant tea from the Kashmir region, traditionally made with green tea, saffron, spices, and nuts. Unlike milk-based chai, kahwa is light, aromatic, and often served after meals. It’s known for its calming effect and luxurious aroma, making it perfect for slow, mindful sipping.

Ingredients (2 mugs):

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 tsp green tea leaves

  • 6–8 saffron strands

  • 1 small cinnamon stick

  • 2 green cardamom pods, crushed

  • 1 tbsp crushed almonds (or slivered)

  • Honey or sugar to taste

Method:

  1. Infuse spices: Bring water, cinnamon, cardamom, and saffron to a gentle boil. Simmer 5 minutes.

  2. Add green tea: Add green tea leaves and turn off heat. Let steep 2–3 minutes only.

  3. Strain: Strain into cups to avoid bitterness.

  4. Sweeten & garnish: Add honey or sugar and top with almonds.

Flavor notes & tips:

  • Never boil green tea—steeping keeps it smooth.

  • Saffron is essential for authentic aroma and color.

  • Almonds add richness without heaviness.

Serving ideas:
Serve kahwa after meals or in the evening with dried fruits or light desserts.
