Lemongrass Chai

Lemongrass chai is fresh, citrusy, and uplifting. The bright lemon aroma cuts through the richness of milk and tea, creating a balanced and refreshing cup. This chai is popular in tropical regions and feels especially comforting without being heavy.

Ingredients (2 mugs):

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 tsp black tea leaves

  • 1 stalk fresh lemongrass, crushed

  • 1-inch ginger (optional)

  • Sweetener to taste

Method:

  1. Prepare lemongrass: Crush the lemongrass stalk to release oils.

  2. Simmer: Add water, lemongrass, and ginger to a saucepan. Simmer 5 minutes.

  3. Add tea: Add tea leaves and simmer 1–2 minutes.

  4. Add milk & sweetener: Add milk and sugar, simmer briefly.

  5. Strain & serve: Strain and enjoy hot.

  • Lemongrass becomes bitter if overboiled—keep simmer gentle.

  • Pairs well with ginger for warmth.

  • Excellent with coconut milk for a tropical twist.
