Mint Chai (Pudina Chai)

Mint Chai (Pudina Chai)

Mint chai is refreshing, aromatic, and wonderfully balanced. While chai is often associated with warmth and spice, mint brings a cooling contrast that feels clean and invigorating. This version is especially popular in warmer climates and is perfect when you want something lighter but still comforting.

Ingredients (2 mugs):

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 tsp black tea leaves

  • 10–12 fresh mint leaves

  • 1-inch ginger, sliced (optional)

  • Sweetener to taste

Method:

  1. Prepare the mint: Lightly crush the mint leaves to release their oils.

  2. Simmer aromatics: Add water, mint, and ginger to a saucepan. Simmer gently for 3–4 minutes.

  3. Add tea: Add tea leaves and simmer 1–2 minutes.

  4. Add milk: Pour in milk and sweetener, bring to a gentle boil.

  5. Strain & serve: Strain into cups and serve hot.

Flavor notes & tips:

  • Overboiling mint can cause bitterness; keep heat gentle.

  • Mint pairs beautifully with ginger and cardamom.

  • Can also be served iced for a refreshing summer drink.

Serving ideas:
Pairs well with light snacks, fruit-based desserts, or enjoyed on its own.
