Saffron Chai

Saffron chai is rich, aromatic, and luxurious. Often reserved for celebrations or slow evenings, this chai has a warm golden hue and a subtle floral depth. While saffron is delicate, its presence transforms the entire cup.

Ingredients (2 mugs):

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 tsp black tea leaves

  • 6–8 saffron strands

  • 2 cardamom pods

  • Sweetener to taste

Method:

  1. Soak saffron: Soak saffron in warm milk for 5 minutes.

  2. Simmer spices: Simmer water and cardamom for 4 minutes.

  3. Add tea: Add tea leaves and simmer 1–2 minutes.

  4. Add milk & saffron: Add milk with saffron infusion.

  5. Sweeten, strain & serve.

Flavor notes & tips:

  • Use real saffron sparingly.

  • Do not boil saffron aggressively.

  • Best with whole milk or rich plant milk.
